Hilton Melbourne South Wharf

by Tony Smyth, 22 December 2010

The overall design of the Hilton Melbourne South Wharf hotel has been specifically moulded to capture the surrounding environment and influence of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), and the local maritime connection of the river – this was a key and fundamental aspect of the design brief. Both NH Architecture and Woods Bagot visualised a design for the property that would complement the surrounding landscape.

The Hotel is a five star 19-storey building with nominal 1,600 square metre floor plates, comprising 364 rooms and 32 serviced apartments, with ground floor retail, an executive lounge and gym among may other world class facilities.

The hotel tower’s façade is a floor to floor glazing assembly with revealed slab edges enabling alternating guestroom triangulated bays to swing across and face the city. A chequer-board effect is created from the exterior due to visual distortion generated by the fracturing of cloud reflectance.

The hotel rooms occupy 13 levels, with 30 deluxe suites over two floors. All rooms have been designed with an emphasis on modern living and there are an additional two levels of luxury serviced apartments. Each of the contemporary guest rooms and suites has been innovatively designed and are inspired by the iconic Yarra River.
The ground floor level of the hotel is made of generous lobby areas which leads to a destination bar and restaurant.

Inspired by its surroundings, which is a heritage maritime precinct, the hotel interiors display cobblestone flooring combined with large timber trusses and oversized metal detailing.

Hilton are the most

Hilton are the most luxurious hotels from all over the world. I've recently spent two weeks on Panama and I stayed at the Hilton Hotel there. I was very satisfied of their quality service. There are also very comfortable rooms and they have advanced technology systems.

This is one of the most

This is one of the most amazing hotels! As a business woman I am traveling a lot and I had the opportunity to spend a great time on Hilton Hotels. I was impressed of their beautiful interior design and their services are the best. Now I am looking for some great hawaii hotel deals as I have to travel there in order to sign an important contract.
