Adam D. Tihany is one of the world’s best-known hospitality designers. Born in Transylvania, Tihany was raised in Israel, and studied in Italy. He moved to New York City in 1976 to become design director of the firm Unigram, before establishing his own design studio in 1978.

With his firm Tihany Design, Tihany has conceived interiors for some 300 luxury restaurants — many for celebrated chefs — and boutique hotels. In New York City, his work includes interiors for the new Per Se for chef Thomas Keller, Jean Georges, for Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and Le Cirque 2000 for Sirio Maccioni among others.

Tihany has also conceived restaurant concepts for numerous resorts globally including the signature C restaurant for chef Charlie Trotter at the One&Only Palmilla resort in Cabo San Lucas, and the restaurant and bar at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in London.

He has just completed the entire hotel and food and beverage interior design for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Las Vegas, part of the US$9 billion CityCentre development that has transformed the Las Vegas Strip. Tihany has also designed signature and stand-alone restaurants in the neighbouring hotels and casinos in the same development for MGM Mirage.
